Unseen Rival

UR tells the story of a young couple, Steven and Karen, on the first day of his new job. As he's getting ready to leave, Karen's friend Elaine, and Steven's ex, turns up at the front door. After refusing her advances, he leaves and Elaine decides it's payback time!

UR was shot over a five-month period in 1993. It was shot in one location, James' house, located in Donaghmede in County Dublin, Ireland. James cast two of his close actor friends, Patrick and Patricia aswell as his sister Cathy, in the lead roles. All of them had appeared in numerous other films made by James. Later, after the film was completed and shown at several different film festivals, it was compared to FATAL ATTRACTION. "When I was writing the story" says James, "that movie never entered into my mind. I was never a fan of that film and it was only after we finished my film that I began to see some comparisons."
