A Vicious Lie

AVL tells the story of two friends, Dave and Steven and Steven's girlfriend, Carol. Unbeknownst to Steven, Dave has his sights set on her but when she refuses his advances, he takes matters into his own hands!

AVL was shot over a weekend in 1992 in Clondalkin, County Dublin, Ireland. The film was shot in Black & White. It was shot at the last minute for an upcoming film festival which James hoped would make the cut. Unfortunately, it didn't. In the end, the finished film was not completely to James' liking. The original idea was the complete opposite to AVL and it had two female friends and one of them has a boyfriend. When he refuses the other girl's advances she takes matters into her own hands but because of time restraints, it was shot with two guys and one girl. James would finally make the film he originally intended to make, with his next film, UNSEEN RIVAL.
